United’s run to end at Wembley

Mauricio Pochettino has the chance to impress Manchester United when his Tottenham side take on their sixth-placed opponents at Wembley on Sunday.

Even though Pochettino has indicated this week that he sees his long-term future as being with Spurs, both United and Real Madrid are believed to be keen to entice the Argentine to their clubs this summer.

There is a certain amount of animosity amongst Tottenham fans for United, who have bought the likes of Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov and Teddy Sheringham from them in the past.

The possibility of Pochettino following the well-worn path from north London to Old Trafford this summer will concern Liliywhites fans but they can take some solace this weekend as their team can bring United’s post-Mourinho renaissance to an end.

Spurs thrashed United 3-0 at Old Trafford in August and can complete the double over their north-west opponents, although it may be a tighter affair this time. Spurs to win and both teams to score is available at 3.20.

Hammers lack consistency

On Saturday the London derby between West Ham United and Arsenal takes centre stage and a draw seems the most likely outcome in the capital.

Although it is widely agreed that Unai Emery has improved Arsenal this season, the statistics show that the Gunners only have three more points than they did at this stage last term under Arsene Wenger.

The Hammers have lost to Watford and drawn with Brighton in their last two home matches and they remain one of the most inconsistent teams in the top-flight.

A draw for Manuel Pellegrini’s side against fifth-placed Arsenal at 3.80 seems good value, with them often producing their best displays in the lunchtime kick-off – beating Manchester United in September.

Brighton can frustrate rattled Reds

Back-to-back defeats at Manchester City and Wolves, in the FA Cup, have caused a few concerns at Liverpool and they will find it difficult to return to winning ways at Brighton, who continue to be strong at home.

The Seagulls have lost fewer home matches than Tottenham this season and have beaten the likes of Manchester United, Wolves and Everton at the Amex Stadium.

Liverpool have a point to prove after losses to Manchester City and Wolves and

Chris Hughton’s side can grind out a 1-1 draw against the Reds at 9.50.

Triple joy for Clarets

Burnley can ease their relegation concerns and make it three victories in a row by beating Fulham at Turf Moor.

This is a crucial part of the campaign for Sean Dyche’s outfit and they have been up to the task so far, defeating Huddersfield and West Ham in their last two league encounters.

It promises to be a low-scoring affair with odds on offer of 2.95 on there being under 1.5 goals in the encounter but the home win makes sense at a handy 2.40.

Battling Bluebirds to grind out win

Few people would have thought Cardiff City would be above the bottom three at the turn of the year but a recent run of four victories in five home games has given Neil Warnock’s team a fighting chance of staying up.

The same cannot be said of Huddersfield whose recent performances suggest they have already thrown the towel in and are planning for life in the Championship next season.

The Terriers have lost their last eight Premier League games and it is difficult to see where their next points are going to come from as they face Manchester City, Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal in their next four matches after the trip to south Wales.

In what looks set to be a right affair, a 1-0 Bluebirds victory is available at 6.35.

Palace’s home woes to continue

Crystal Palace have only scored five goals in 10 league matches at Selhurst Park this season but have won their last two away games at Manchester City and Wolves.

Their poor home form could continue this weekend with Watford 3.35 to claim all three points against the Eagles.

Southampton can also secure three vital points in their battle to avoid relegation by beating Leicester City, who contrived to lose to League Two side Newport County in the FA Cup last weekend, at the King Power Stadium at 4.15.

Blues set for stalemate

Goals have been in short supply in recent Chelsea games – they have found the net only 11 times in their last 10 league matches – while Newcastle have lost just three of their 10 away games this term.

Rafa Benitez will be keen to frustrate his former team so a goalless draw at 13.00 may be worth looking at.

Finally two of the most off-form teams meet at Goodison Park when Everton entertain Bournemouth.

Marco Silva’s team have only won two of their last 10 matches while Bournemouth have lost seven of their last 10.

Everton can make home advantage count by beating the Cherries from behind at 7.00.
