Simeone out to stifle Juve

With Atletico Madrid and Manchester City leading in their respective Champions League ties, expect both teams to progress on Tuesday night.

Atletico to frustrate Ronaldo and co

Juventus face a huge task to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit against Atletico Madrid, with the La Liga side renowned for their ability to protect a lead.

Goals from Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin compounded a miserable night for the Serie A champions, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic failing to shine.

A formidable home record gives Juventus a bit of comfort with just one defeat at the Allianz Stadium this season, but at 5.30, Atletico Madrid look far too big considering they have lost just one of their last 11 Champions League games.

Five of Atletico Madrid’s last eight away matches in the Champions League have ended as a draw, and it looks a solid bet on Tuesday night at 3.65.

Keep it low on the goals

Those expecting a game full of action could be disappointed with two sides well known for their defensive qualities.

Atletico Madrid in particular are a formidable force at the back, keeping clean sheets in their last four Champions League matches, and having already shut out Juventus in the first leg, they will fancy their chances of a repeat in Turin.

A clean sheet for the visitors looks decent at 4.35 whilst for those seeking something a bit bigger, a goalless draw offers plenty of appeal at 8.75.

City to cruise to the quarter-finals

Late goals from Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling helped Manchester City to a dramatic 3-2 win in Gelsenkirchen for the first leg of their Champions League tie with Schalke.

However, the return leg at the Etihad should be much more straightforward for Pep Guardiola’s side as they look for a tenth successive win on home soil.

Schalke have had a disappointing campaign so far, sitting 14th in the Bundesliga and with a defence that has conceded 14 goals in their last four matches, they will have their work cut out against the likes of Sergio Aguero.

Having scored three goals against Arsenal and six goals against Chelsea in recent weeks, Manchester City should be comfortable winners against a struggling Schalke side, with City (-2) on the handicaps looking a play at 2.05.

Expect goals at both ends

It is fair to say that Manchester City’s defence has looked far from solid in the Champions League, with eight goals conceded in this season’s competition.

Lyon were able to take four points off them in the group stage, including a 2-1 win at the Etihad, whilst Hoffenheim also scored in both their meetings with the Premier League champions.

Schalke have scored in all but one of their seven Champions League games this season and having notched twice in the first leg, they will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet on Tuesday night.

Both teams to score at 2.10 looks good value with Schalke fancied to grab a consolation goal.
