Clarets need some much-needed cheer

Three defeats in a row have seen Burnley slide towards the relegation zone again, but Sean Dyche’s side can ease their drop fears by beating Leicester City on Saturday.

It has been a very strange campaign for the Clarets, who looked set to be relegated when they won just three of their first 19 fixtures.

However, they then embarked on an eight-match unbeaten run, culminating in the 2-1 victory against Tottenham three weeks ago, which left them 13th in the table.

Losses to Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Liverpool have left Burnley looking over their shoulders again and they come into this weekend’s fixtures just two points better off than 18th-placed Cardiff.

Burnley picked up a point from a goalless draw at the King Power Stadium in November and are 3.00 to beat Brendan Rodgers’ side this weekend.

The Foxes may have beaten Fulham 3-1 in their last match, but they have failed to keep a clean sheet in nine games since their 1-0 New Year’s Day win at Everton.

It may take just one goal for Burnley at Turf Moor to pick up a much-needed victory. A 1-0 win for the home team is available at 8.25.

More away-day misery for Rafa

Newcastle face the long trip to Bournemouth to take on a Cherries team on a high, after picking up a rare victory on their travels at Huddersfield last weekend.

Rafa Benitez’s side produced a stirring comeback to beat Everton 3-2 in their last match but they have struggled away from St James’ Park this season, only winning two of their 14 league fixtures and scoring just 10 goals.

They have failed to win any of their six away games since Christmas and look set to slump to another disappointing result on the south coast.

A draw at half time and Bournemouth victory after 90 minutes can be backed at 4.55.

Hammers too good for toothless Terriers

West Ham may have earned nine more points than at the same stage of the 2017/18 campaign, but Manuel Pellegrini’s side still flatter to deceive on a regular basis.

Last weekend’s performance in the 2-0 loss at Cardiff was one of their worst of the season and came on the back of an impressive display, when beating Newcastle by the same scoreline.

Nothing but three points will suffice for the Hammers on Saturday though, as their opponents Huddersfield have only avoided defeat on their travels four times in 14 attempts this season.

Only Fulham have a poorer away record than the Terriers, who have scored a pitiful 15 goals in their 30 Premier League matches to date and netted just twice in their last nine games.

West Ham sometimes take a while to get going and it may take the shock of falling behind on Saturday before they click. A West Ham win from behind is available at 6.65.

Reds to canter to easy victory

On Sunday, Liverpool can keep the pressure on table-topping Manchester City by easing to a routine victory at doomed Fulham.

The Cottagers may have improved slightly in the last two matches since Scott Parker took over from Claudio Ranieri, but nothing can disguise the fact that this has been a hugely disappointing campaign for last term’s Championship play-off winners.

Their four top-flight victories this season have come at Craven Cottage, but they have all been against teams currently in the bottom six.

It would not be a surprise to see Liverpool record another 2-0 victory – as they did against Fulham at Anfield in November. A 2-0 Liverpool win can be backed at 6.00.

No Silva lining for Everton

Everton have exactly the same record as they did at this stage last season, when they flirted with relegation before Sam Allardyce guided them to a joyless eighth-placed finish.

Life was meant to get better under Marco Silva but it has been another frustrating campaign for the Goodison Park faithful.

Last weekend’s defeat at Newcastle epitomised their season, playing well for 45 minutes before capitulating at the first sign of life from their opponents.

Chelsea have bounced back from their 6-0 embarrassment at Manchester City to take seven points from their last three matches.

Maurizio Sarri’s team can keep their top-four push on track by beating Everton. A Chelsea victory and both teams to score is available at 3.70.
