Bundesliga Preview 2018-19

The Bundesliga continues this weekend and it promises to be another thrilling weekend of top-flight German action, with Wolfsburg’s trip to Bayer Leverkusen particularly eye-catching.

Wolfsburg have escaped relegation from the Bundesliga via a play-off in each of the last two seasons, but an opening weekend win at home to Schalke has given them early hope for a better campaign.

The spark for that optimism was a last-minute winner from Daniel Ginczek, with the summer recruit from Stuttgart making an instant impact, having also marked his club debut with the only goal of the game in a DFB-Pokal success against Elversberg.

Ginczek making an impression

Ginczek was used as a late substitute in the win over Schalke and is priced at 3.60 to score at any time against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, while at 10.00 to score the last goal of the game he could be a decent prospect.

Hosts Leverkusen are certain to be highly motivated for their first home game of the new league season, having agonisingly missed out on a top-four finish last term.

An opening-weekend 2-0 reverse at Borussia Monchengladbach is certain to make them even more determined and this fixture has a recent history of producing plenty of goals.

The last four meetings at the BayArena have seen 22 goals fly in, so you might feel that over 3.5 total goals in the game on Saturday at 2.40 is a worthwhile option.

Stuttgart host mighty Bayern

Bayern Munich opened the defence of their title with a not entirely convincing 3-1 home win over Hoffenheim, but they head to the Mercedes-Benz Arena to take on Stuttgart at a ground where they have won on each of their last seven league visits.

Only once in those seven victories have they failed to score more than once, so 1.31 for the visitors to net over 1.5 goals at teatime on Saturday could offer a small return.

Also bear in mind that in three of the last five successes for Bayern in this fixture they have kept a clean sheet, so the visitors to win to nil at 2.10 is also something to consider.

Schalke already under pressure

Schalke play host to Hertha Berlin on Sunday with expectations high after they finished second behind Bayern in the Bundesliga standings last season.

However, a 2-1 defeat at Wolfsburg in their opening league fixture was not the start they were looking for and a quickfire response against Hertha is what is required, with Die Konigsblauen 2.60 to win the game to zero.

History is certainly on their side, with Hertha having lost on all of their last ten league visits to Gelsenkirchen and scored a mere one goal in that run.

Therefore Schalke at 2.10 to keep a clean sheet appears to be more than a useful option, especially when you factor in that new signing Sebastian Rudy should be added to the home midfield.

Leipzig need to respond

The second game on Sunday sees RB Leipzig welcome newly-promoted Fortuna Dusseldorf, who were edged out 2-1 at home by Augsburg on their return to the German top-flight.

Leipzig, meanwhile, suffered a 4-1 mauling at Borussia Dortmund, a result which will surely have given them an early-season reminder of what is needed.

A midweek Europa League win over Zorya Luhansk will have helped morale and in Jean-Kevin Augustin they have a forward in form – the Frenchman having scored in three of his last four games.

He is 2.05 to score at any time against Dusseldorf, while the hosts are 3.50 to win the game by a one-goal margin, just as Augsburg did against Dusseldorf last weekend.o you might feel that over 3.5 total goals in the game on Saturday at 2.40 is a worthwhile option.
