La Liga – Preview 2018/19

It has been a thrilling start to the new La Liga campaign and Game Week 3 promises yet more excitement.

Getafe to get the show on the road

Of Friday’s three fixtures, the most joy for punters is likely to come from the game at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, where Getafe welcome Real Valladolid.

After inevitably losing their opener at Real Madrid, Los Azulones returned to where they left off with a 2-0 home win over Eibar last time out.

Jose Bordalas’ side have a happy knack of beating those likely to be in and around them at home, often to zero, and that outcome is 2.40.

Valladolid are still to score on their return to the top-flight and will come up against a familiar face in last season’s top-scorer, Jaime Mata.

The 29-year-old is 2.40 to do the inevitable and score against his former side on what should be a comfortable night for Getafe.

Elsewhere on Friday, Real Sociedad are available at a very tempting price of 2.60 to win their Basque derby at Eibar, with Los Armeros seemingly destined for a long season.

Real will not have it all their own way

On to Saturday and Real Madrid will not have it easy against Leganes.

Los Pepineros are entering their third season in La Liga and actually won at the Bernabeu in the Copa del Rey last term.

They lost both league games though but not without a fight and there have been over 2.5 goals in four of the last five meetings between these two sides. The likelihood of a repeat of that stat is perhaps reflected by being priced at 1.32.

32.35 for the away win is a bit unkind to Mauricio Pellegrino’s men, who have just a point from their opening two games but, on paper, Real should run riot.

Los Blancos are still finding their feet in this post-Zinedine Zidane/Cristiano Ronaldo era and it may not all be plain sailing.

Julen Lopetegui’s men should still come out on top with a third victory from as many games this season and the home win and both to score looks a handy outcome at 2.45.

Alaves to halt Espanyol run

After treading water for years, Espanyol look a different team this season and upset the odds to beat Valencia last weekend.

Alaves lost at Barcelona in the opening round but held on for a stalemate at home to Real Betis and it is hardly a secret that goals can often be scarce at the Mendizorrotza.

El Glorioso built their form last season on their home record and Abelardo Fernandez is a coach who knows how to set his team up.

Opposite number Rubi has impressed so far but a trip to the Basque country is never easy and the home win at 3.00 looks a very decent price.

Barca to blow Huesca away, while look out for goals in Andalusia

Barcelona will look to make it three wins from three and should have no issues against Huesca.

Huesca are new boys on the scene but are incredibly 45.50 to win on Sunday although goals should be the answer at the Nou Camp.

You have to get to over 4.5 goals for a favourable price and that outcome at 2.25 should not be ignored.

The other game on Sunday that catches the eye is the Derbi sevillano, where Real Betis welcome Sevilla.

It looks tough to pick a winner but these sides shared 12 goals in their two games last season and, with over 2.5 being scored in Betis’ last three home games, over 3.5 appeals at 2.45.
