La Liga Preview 3-4/11

The La Liga table is taking shape and Round 11 promises yet more excitement, with a Madrid derby kicking things off.

Aggressive Atleti too good for Leganes

Leganes have a truly miserable away record in La Liga, failing to win any of their last 20 on the road but they will be hoping to make home advantage count when Atletico visit.

Los Pepineros have already beaten Barcelona at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque, but face a decent Los Colchoneros outfit with a real title chance due to the inconsistencies of those around them.

Atletico did lose their last away game 4-0, however, that was against a rampant Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and their only other defeat this season came at Celta Vigo.

Barring that disaster at Dortmund, Atletico have conceded just once in their last four outings in all competitions and a clean sheet is likely again.

Against a side with spirit but little style, expect Diego Simeone’s men to dominate their short trip down the M-40, so back the away win to zero at 2.25.

Girona can make most of Valencia slump

Valencia’s struggles have caused plenty of bemusement this season and they face a Girona side in good form, especially on the road.

The Blanquivermell are unbeaten in their last seven away from home in La Liga in a run that stretches back to last season, with the last three of those being draws.

Eusebio Sacristan appears to have them well organised and has a goal threat in former Middlesbrough striker Cristhian Stuani. The Uruguayan was pretty lifeless in England but has been in good scoring form, netting eight times this season and is 3.75 to score at Mestalla.

Valencia have won only one of their last nine and are yet to triumph at home in the league in 2018-19, drawing all five of their outings.

Despite a morale-boosting midweek win in the Copa del Rey, Marcelino’s men look short of confidence and another tie is 4.50, while Girona double chance could also be an option at 2.60.

Ambitious Alaves to maintain European hopes

The inconsistency of the big boys has allowed some of La Liga’s underdogs to shine and Alaves have been sensational.

Sitting second heading into the weekend, El Glorioso can include scalping Real Madrid as part of their recent run of three straight victories and will not fear Basque rivals Eibar.

Los Armeros have lost their last two to zero and their lack of confidence suggests a tight game could be on the agenda. Alaves, in contrast, are full of belief and the away win is an excellent price at 3.90.

Get on in-form Getafe

There maybe bigger games elsewhere on Sunday but Getafe are another team in form and can punish bottom side Huesca.

Los Azulones are unbeaten in their last six, winning their last four in all competitions and could well be on track for top half finish.

Huesca in contrast are struggling in their maiden top flight campaign and have not won since their opening weekend triumph at Eibar.

The away win sticks out at 2.25 and more ambitious punters may go further by backing it with a clean sheet at 3.15.
