Premier League Transfer News May 30

The summer window set to open on July 1, the transfer talk has gone into overdrive – even prior to the start of the World Cup.

A couple of high-profile deals have already been completed and many of Europe’s top clubs are looking to do their business early.

United set for Porto swoop

As ever, Manchester United are expected to splash the cash this summer and they are understood to be close to the capture of highly-rated young defender Diogo Dalot.

The 19-year-old full-back has turned down the chance to sign a new contract at Porto and could now be on his way to Old Trafford.

United, who are 7.50 with Bethard to win the Premier League next season, are reportedly ready to trigger the player’s release clause, which is thought to be set at £17.4million.

Dalot is a Portuguese Under-21 international, who has come through the Porto Academy and has just one year left on his current contract.

Emery seeks first Arsenal signing

Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira could become one of Unai Emrey’s new additions at Arsenal, according to reports in Italy.

The Gunners are believed to be ready to offer the 25million euros needed to activate the 22-year-old’s release clause.

Premier League rivals Everton and Serie A duo Juventus and Napoli are already understood to be monitoring his situation, but Arsenal – 3.25 to finish in the Top Four next term – could be ready to steal a march on all of them.

Spanish press link Bale with Spurs return

Reports in Spain say Tottenham (15.00 to win the 2018-19 Premier League title) are considering a move to re-sign Gareth Bale this summer, after the player hinted he could look to leave the Bernabeu.

After scoring twice in the Champions League final, the Wales international admitted he needs to be playing more football next season.

A whole host of clubs are keen to sign the 28-year-old, including Manchester United and Bayern Munich, but Spurs do have a ‘first option’ buy-back clause should he leave Los Blancos.

Agent on Lewandowksi future

Pini Zahavi, the agent of Robert Lewandowski, claims the striker has told Bayern Munich that he wants to leave this summer.

There has been mounting speculation that the Poland frontman, who has scored 151 goals in 195 games for Bayern since joining four years ago, will be on the move after the World Cup.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain are all understood to be keen on signing the 29-year-old, who is 28/1 to be the World Cup’s Top Goalscorer.

Lewandowski is under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2021, but Zahavi says his client “needs a change and a new challenge in his career”.

Pulisic senior slams Premier League talk

The father of Borrusia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic says reports linking his son with a move to the Premier League are ‘hogwash’.

The USA international is one of the most highly-rated midfielders in the world, after a string of outstanding displays for the Bundesliga outfit.

Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United have all been linked with the teenager and although his father Mark has played down the rumours, he admits the player’s agent is working on things in regards to “trying to see what the best phase of his next development will be”.
