NFL: Week 8 Preview

It will feel like a long week for the reigning Super Bowl champions Philadelphia but the Eagles have a chance to put things right in Week 8 when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley.

Philly still out to prove doubters wrong

The Eagles will still be scratching their hands and asking themselves how they lost their last outing against the Carolina Panthers and the champions head to London having squandered a superb opportunity to pick up a win on the road last time out.

With an impressive 17-0 lead going into the final quarter, quarterback Cam Newton inspired one of the great NFL comebacks to help the Panthers beat the title holders.

There will have been plenty of soul-searching after that defeat in the away dressing room at the Bank of America Stadium, especially in the Eagles’ defensive department.

However, against a Jaguars outfit who are down in 18th when it comes to total offensive yards made, QB Carson Wentz might just be able to get his side over the line in the unfamiliar surroundings of Wembley Stadium and the Eagles are 1.60 to come out on top.

Redskins continue division charge

Sunday looks set to throw up another exciting clash between two NFC East rivals, as the Washington Redskins hit the road to the Metlife Stadium to try and add to the struggling New York Giants’ woes.

Washington go into this one full of confidence as they find themselves in with a strong chance of finishing top of the division this season. The Redskins edged out another NFC East rival in the form of the Dallas Cowboys in their last outing and will be battle-hardened for their trip to New York.

The Giants can’t buy a win at present and will be licking their wounds once again after a narrow defeat to the Atlanta Falcons in Monday night’s game.

Philly went and hammered the 1-6 Giants in New York earlier this month and expect the Redskins to do the same this weekend, with Washington at 1.90 for the win.

Patriots have turned the corner

Despite a sluggish start to the season, once again the New England Patriots look like they are starting to find some momentum as they prepare to face the Buffalo Bills in the early hours of Tuesday morning (UK time).

QB Tom Brady has got the Pats back to winning ways as they continue to impress after a 38-31 victory against the Chicago Bears last time out.

The opposite can be said of the Bills, who look like they have gone the other way and are now struggling to find that magic formula to bring about wins in the NFL.

A 37-5 hammering last time out at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts does not bode particularly well for Buffalo, as they prepare to face last season’s Super Bowl runners-up.

The Pats are heavy favourites for the straight up win but the handicap market offers some value, with New England at 1.94 with -13.5 on the spread.
