NFL – Redskins to prosper in Buccaneers battle

As the NFL regular season has reached the half-way stage, the divisions are starting to take shape but there are still opportunities for teams to make that push for the playoffs.

Washington currently top the competitive NFC East and they will be looking to press home their advantage over the Philadelphia Eagles when the Redskins travel to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Atlanta Falcons got the better of Washington last time out, to bring to an end a three-game winning run which saw the Redskins overcome the likes of Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets.

As for the Bucs, they have endured a tough run after a positive start to the season.

Five defeats in their last six outings have left Tampa Bay languishing at the bottom of the NFC South.

Washington, who are 2.35 to get the win, have the quality on both sides of the ball to trouble the Bucs and the Redskins should come out on top at Raymond James Stadium.

Falcons to continue rise

Atlanta are starting to get their act together in the NFC South and will be full of confidence when they head to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

The Falcons have won three games on the spin, beating the likes of the Bucs, New York Giants and the Redskins.

What has been so impressive about those results is that Atlanta have notched up an average of just over 31 points in those victories.

Quarterback Matt Ryan has got his aerial game going while running back Tevin Coleman is a danger on the ground.

The Browns have made progress this season, with their two victories and a tie, but they are unlikely to have enough to stop this winning run for the Falcons.

Atlanta are 1.95 to win with -6 on the handicap, as they look to narrow the gap on the impressive New Orleans Saints in the division.
